Toyota has officially launched its direct operations in Bangladesh under the Toyota Tsusho Group, marking a significant move as a 100 percent foreign direct investment entity. This entry signals growing confidence in Bangladesh’s automobile market, which is gradually shifting toward brand-new vehicles and opening opportunities for global manufacturers.
The company’s strategy goes beyond selling cars. Toyota Bangladesh is focused on building trust through reliable ownership experiences, including access to genuine spare parts, warranty coverage and strong after-sales support. This approach aims to reshape consumer confidence in purchasing new vehicles in a market where reconditioned cars have traditionally dominated.

A key highlight of Toyota’s strategy is its strong focus on hybrid vehicles. Given Bangladesh’s current infrastructure limitations, including charging networks and power supply challenges, hybrids are seen as the most practical and sustainable solution in the near term. By combining fuel efficiency with reduced emissions, hybrids offer a balanced alternative while the country gradually prepares for full electric vehicle adoption.
Toyota Bangladesh’s plans are aligned with global Toyota standards while being adapted to local realities such as traffic congestion, road conditions and consumer preferences. The company is also considering local vehicle assembly in the future, depending on market maturity and policy support. For now, its priority is to strengthen sales operations, expand its service network and ensure availability of spare parts across the country.
In addition, Toyota is working with local banks to introduce financing options, making brand-new vehicles more accessible to a wider range of customers. The company has already entered the institutional segment, supplying vehicles to Pragati Industries, and is in discussions with other government entities.

Looking ahead, Toyota Bangladesh is preparing to showcase its latest lineup at the Dhaka International Motor Show from April 23 to 25. The lineup is expected to include sedans, SUVs, pickups, minibuses and buses, with a strong emphasis on hybrid models tailored to local needs.
Overall, Toyota’s entry represents more than a market expansion. It reflects a long-term commitment to Bangladesh’s mobility ecosystem, aiming to combine global expertise with local relevance while gradually transforming how consumers experience and perceive brand-new vehicles.
