The United Kingdom will continue to offer duty free market access for Bangladeshi exports until 2029, according to British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke. She made the announcement while speaking as the special guest at the HSBC Export Excellence Awards 2025 ceremony held in Dhaka on Sunday.
Sarah Cooke stated that the United Kingdom decision ensures that Bangladesh can keep exporting products without tariffs until 2029. She added that even after 2029, nearly 92 percent of Bangladeshi goods, including ready made garments, will continue to enjoy duty free entry into the UK market. This long term facility, she said, will play an important role in helping Bangladesh diversify its export portfolio and strengthen its position in global trade.
She emphasised that the decision reflects the United Kingdom strong interest in deepening economic relations with Bangladesh. By keeping the market open to Bangladeshi products over the long term, the United Kingdom aims to support continued trade expansion and encourage stronger future cooperation between the two countries.
