In a landmark development, global New Energy Vehicle (NEV) titan BYD has officially inaugurated its inaugural showroom in Bangladesh, offering a pivotal platform for environmentally conscious individuals to delve into the realm of electric vehicles (EVs) and contribute to sustainable living practices.

Salman F Rahman, the Private Industries and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister, articulated on Saturday the government’s ambitious aspirations to achieve a 30% penetration of electric vehicles in the country by 2030. Moreover, Rahman emphasized the government’s commitment to realizing the Smart Bangladesh vision by 2041, citing the indispensable role of widespread EV adoption.

In his role as the chief guest inaugurating the showroom, Rahman lauded BYD’s strategic move to establish its first showcase in Bangladesh, recognizing its instrumental role in facilitating informed choices among the populace and catalyzing a surge in EV ownership.

The visionary Bangladesh government aims to phase out conventional fossil fuel-powered vehicles in favor of electric alternatives, a key strategy in combating carbon emissions. Despite this laudable vision, the early stages of electric vehicle adoption in the domestic market face challenges due to the scarcity of available EVs.

The initiation of a showroom in the local market by CG Runner BD Ltd, introducing the global NEV giant BYD, marks a significant stride toward overcoming the barriers to EV adoption. Strategically situated in the Tejgaon industrial area in Dhaka, the showroom spans an expansive 8,400 square feet, providing ample space to showcase up to five cars simultaneously.

At the outset, the flagship model BYD Seal, a sedan, takes center stage, featuring two distinct variants — the Premium Variant boasting an extended mileage of 570 kilometers (Rear Drive) and the Performance Variant with a mileage of 520 kilometers All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The BYD SEAL stands out with its “Ocean Aesthetics” design, incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as the e-platform 3.0, innovative CTB (Cell-to-Body) technology, Blade Battery, and iTAC (intelligent Torture Adaptation Control).

Enthusiasts and potential buyers can immerse themselves in the showroom experience, getting firsthand exposure to the distinct features of the showcased electric vehicles. Moreover, the showroom accommodates two charging stations (AC and DC), strategically placed for the convenience of BYD car owners, further bolstering the infrastructure for EV users.

Looking ahead, CG Runner BD LTD envisions expanding its footprint with additional showrooms and service centers in the near future, signaling a commitment to expeditiously drive the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in Bangladesh.
