08. Oct. 2024, DHL and The Daily Star come together to celebrate excellence in the business community with Bangladesh Business Awards 2023.
The 22nd edition of this prestigious annual event, organized by the global logistics leader and Bangladesh’s leading English daily, is currently being held at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in the capital.
The theme of this year’s awards is “Bangladesh on the rebound.”
Among the honorees were a prominent garment industry leader, the owner of a major local conglomerate, a well-respected steel manufacturer, a renowned financial institution, and an inspiring woman entrepreneur. Each of these individuals and organizations was recognized for their exceptional contributions to their respective fields and their impact on the nation’s economic progress.

Finance and Commerce Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed presented the awards to the winners.
The awards this year were presented in five categories: Business Person of the Year, Best Financial Institution of the Year, Best Enterprise of the Year, Outstanding Woman in Business, and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Kihak Sung, chairperson of Youngone Corporation, a Korean garment manufacturing company that has operated in Bangladesh for over 30 years, was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his tremendous contributions to the country’s export sector, job creation, and industrial growth. He also delivered a keynote speech at the start of the ceremony.
Sk Bashir Uddin, managing director of AkijBashir Group, was named the Business Person of the Year 2023 for his leadership and vision.
BSRM, Bangladesh’s largest steel manufacturer, received the Best Enterprise of the Year award for its significant role in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
Pubali Bank PLC, one of the oldest and most established private banks in the country, was awarded Best Financial Institution of the Year 2023.
Kyaw Sein Thay Dolly, managing director of Cloths “R” Us Ltd, was honored with the Outstanding Woman in Business award for her entrepreneurial spirit and success in the garment buying industry.
Since 2000, DHL and The Daily Star have been recognizing top business leaders and enterprises for their innovation, resilience, and contributions to the country’s development. Over the years, these awards have celebrated the visionaries who have driven economic growth, created jobs, and paved the way for Bangladesh’s journey toward becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
