The 28th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) concluded with export orders totaling Tk 392 crore, marking a 17 percent increase from the previous year, as reported by the commerce ministry. Customer spending during the month-long event reached approximately Tk 400 crore, indicating a year-on-year sales growth of around 15 percent.
Organized by the Export Promotion Bureau, the DITF wrapped up at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre in Dhaka’s Purbachal area. Among the 304 stalls and pavilions featured at this year’s fair, nine were operated by foreign companies hailing from India, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Turkey.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu, serving as the chief guest, announced plans to diversify the DITF from the next year to boost the country’s exports. He mentioned upcoming seminars and symposiums to attract more foreign buyers, emphasizing efforts to ensure necessary arrangements for both foreign and local business representatives to enhance their participation in the event.
Titu expressed optimism, stating that with proper execution, the country’s target of reaching $100 billion in export earnings by 2030 could be achieved faster. The closing ceremony, chaired by Tapan Kanti Ghosh, the secretary of the commerce ministry, honored 41 stalls with crests in various categories for their exceptional performance during this year’s DITF.
Notable figures, including Mahbubul Alam, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and AHM Ahsan, vice-chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the collaborative efforts to promote trade and economic growth.
