    Chattogram Port to Go Fully Digital by February 2026

    Chattogram Port, the country’s largest seaport, is set to achieve full digitalisation by February 2026, Port Chairman Rear Admiral SM Moniruzzaman announced on Friday (27 September).

    Speaking at the World Maritime Day celebration organised by the Bangladesh Merchant Marine Officers Association (BMMOA) at the Navy Convention Center in Chattogram, Moniruzzaman said technological advancement is crucial for modern port operations. He noted that complete digitalisation will not only enhance efficiency and transparency but also help the port remain competitive in the global maritime industry.

    The event was presided over by BMMOA President Captain Anam Chowdhury, with Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin attending as the special guest. Video messages were also shared from the Director General of the Department of Shipping and the Managing Director of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.

    As part of the programme, Bravery Awards were given to Captain Amir Md Abu Sufian, Captain Md Zahirul Islam, and Captain Md Farhan Ullah Ansari. Excellence Awards went to Captain Mohiuddin Abdul Qadir and Naval Engineer Md Golam Sarwar for their contributions to the maritime sector.

    Other notable attendees included Bangladesh Shipbreakers and Recyclers Association President Amjad Hossain Chowdhury, Bangladesh Inland Container Depot Association Director Kamrul Islam Majumder, and former board member of Port Serve International Limited Khairul Alam Sujan.

    Moniruzzaman concluded by stressing that digitalisation is not just an operational upgrade but a step toward making Bangladesh’s maritime sector more resilient, transparent, and globally competitive.
