Chinese owned enterprise Direction Technology (Bangladesh) Co Ltd has signed an agreement to invest $3 million in establishing a manufacturing facility at the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) in South Halishahar. The new plant will produce bluetooth headsets, wired headphones, and data cables, and is expected to create employment for 478 people.

The deal was signed at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka between Md Ashraful Kabir, member for investment promotion at the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza), and Li Fanfan, managing director of Direction Technology (Bangladesh) Co Ltd. Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, executive chairman of Bepza, attended the signing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman welcomed the company as part of the Bepza family and highlighted that the investment brings a new line of technology-based products to the country’s export portfolio. He emphasized that while Bangladesh has earned global recognition for its apparel industry, such ventures play a vital role in diversifying exports and reducing dependency on textiles.

He further assured Direction Technology of Bepza’s full support and urged the company to maintain strict compliance standards in all operations. Industry insiders believe this initiative will not only strengthen the electronics manufacturing base but also attract more foreign investors looking at Bangladesh as a competitive destination.
